What Is Wholesale Artwork? A Commercial Buyer's Guide
If you have spent any time sourcing art for a commercial project, you will already know that walking into a high street shop and buying framed wall art one piece at a time is not a viable strategy. Wholesale artwork is the alternative - and for interior designers, procurement managers, hotel operators, and fit-out teams across the UK, it is how most commercial art gets sourced and delivered at scale.
Here is how it works.
What is wholesale artwork?
Wholesale artwork means buying framed prints and art prints directly from a trade supplier at discounted pricing, outside of retail channels. Rather than purchasing through a consumer shop, verified trade buyers order through a registered trade account at pricing that reflects volume and commercial intent.
In practice, it covers two things: ready-to-order framed wall art from a supplier's catalogue, and bespoke picture printing and framing produced to specification. Most commercial projects use both in combination.
Who can buy wholesale?
Anyone sourcing art for commercial or trade purposes can access wholesale pricing. You do not need to be a large company. Interior designers, boutique hotel operators, care home procurement teams, retail shopfitters, and sole traders all qualify, provided they can demonstrate commercial intent.
At T A Interiors, registering for a trade account takes a few minutes online, and you can mix and match across the full range without overstocking on a single print.
The catalogue: what wholesale art looks like in practice
Our framed art catalogue covers a wide range of subjects, styles, and frame options, all handcrafted in our Lancashire workshop. A few examples of what trade buyers regularly draw from:
Animal and wildlife prints.
From Victorian zoological illustration to our quirky gentleman animal series, our animal prints bring real personality to restaurant and boutique hotel settings.
Birds in round frames.
The bird prints range has proven strong sellers for hospitality interiors, available with wooden frames in gold, black, and white box frame finishes.
Botanical and natural history.
Our botany and insects and butterflies ranges are consistently popular with care home and hotel buyers. Detailed, visually calm, and produced to a high-quality standard across every batch.
Antique maps and fine art.
The antique maps collection and museum and fine art range suit traditional hotel interiors, members' clubs, and corporate spaces where the brief calls for something with real weight to it.
Gentleman animals in round frames.
The Bowties and Beaks collection is one of our best sellers, and it's easy to see why. Dapper dogs, circus ringmasters and the odd flamingo in a bow tie bring a sense of fun to spaces that could otherwise feel a bit too polished, making it a favourite for restaurants, bars and boutique hotels wanting something with real personality.
All pieces are ready to order with no lengthy lead times, and consistent quality across every batch because everything is produced in-house.
Catalogue vs Bespoke: the Distinction that Matters
The wholesale catalogue covers set designs, sizes, and frame options - the fastest, most cost-efficient route to a finished wall. For most rooms in a commercial scheme, it is all you need.
Bespoke picture printing and framing is for when the catalogue cannot meet the brief: a specific image, a large prints commission for an oversized feature wall, a non-standard size, or specialist requirements such as fire-rated substrates, safety glazing, anti-ligature fixings, or coloured mounts matched to a specific scheme.
Our framing and mount service covers everything from file preparation through to substrate selection, glazing, wooden frames built to specification, and nationwide delivery. You can supply your own artwork or we can source and produce it - the framing of artwork is handled entirely in-house.
Most larger commercial projects combine both: catalogue pieces for standard rooms, bespoke framing for destination spaces and compliance-sensitive environments.
What to have ready before you get in touch
A rough piece count, a style or subject direction, your preferred frame options, any compliance requirements (care homes and marine projects in particular), and your site timeline. The clearer the brief, the faster we can turn around a quote - typically within one to two business days.
